About cityhonestly

We cost ten Southeast Asian cities to the month and date every figure. Where the sources disagreed, we say so instead of quietly picking one.

One person writes every guide

Mihailo Pavlovic writes the guides and keeps them current. He is based in Bangkok. His name is on the cover of every book.

He studied at Thammasat University and did his student exchange in Thailand. He has visited the region, and known it, both before the pandemic and after it.

KOGAIONON LIMITED, a Hong Kong company, publishes them.

Every figure carries a date and a source

You see both beside the number, on the page and in the book. Rents, fees and visa rules change. A figure without a date is a guess.

Where a source is online, its name is a link. You can open it and check the figure yourself.

All ten cities use one exchange-rate table, fixed on 8 September 2026. That keeps Bangkok and Singapore comparable in the same day's money.

Where two sources disagreed, the claim is marked CHECK and the page says why. Nothing is invented. A building, a rent or a threshold that is not in the research is not in the guide.

The edition date is on every page. When a page's words change after the edition, the page says which day.

Half of each guide is reasons not to go

A guide that only sells a city is a brochure. Each guide names who the city suits and who should pick somewhere else. Each comparison ends in a verdict.

Write to the person who wrote it

If a figure is out of date or a rule has changed, email [email protected]. Say which page and which number.

Edition 9 September 2026. Every figure carries the date it was true and the source it came from. We last changed this page on 21 September 2026.
