Privacy
The short version. Reading this site tells us nothing about you. There are no cookies, no accounts, no tracking scripts and no advertising.
If you buy a guide, Stripe takes the payment as the seller. You will see it as Link. We receive your email address and what you bought. That is all we need to send you the file and honour a refund, and it is all we keep.
01 Who we are
KOGAIONON LIMITED publishes the [City], honestly guides and operates cityhonestly.com. We are a company incorporated in Hong Kong SAR. Our company number is 80395803 and our business registration number is 80395803-000-26-8. Our registered office is Unit 2904, 29/F, Universal Trade Centre, 3 Arbuthnot Road, Central, Hong Kong.

02 What this site collects while you read
Nothing that identifies you. There is no account to create, no newsletter box, no comment form and no advertising network.
No cookies. The pages you read are served without setting a single cookie. You can verify that in your browser's developer tools.
One thing is stored in your browser. If you choose light or dark mode, that choice is saved in your browser's local storage. It never leaves your device and is never sent to us. Clearing your browser data removes it.
Visitor statistics are anonymous. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics. It is cookieless. It does not fingerprint you and it does not follow you to other sites. It reports only totals: how many people read a page, roughly where in the world, on what kind of device. We cannot identify a reader from it. Neither can Cloudflare, on our behalf. That is also why the site has no cookie banner. There is nothing to consent to.
Requests are logged briefly. Delivering a web page needs your IP address and your browser's user-agent. Cloudflare and our own server keep short-lived logs of both. They are used to serve the site, block attacks and find faults. We do not use them to build a profile of you.
03 What we collect if you buy a guide
Payment is handled by Stripe through Stripe Managed Payments. Stripe acts as the merchant of record, which makes it the seller at the moment of the transaction.
You will meet it as Link. Checkout, your receipt and your order history are all Link-branded. Your card statement shows LINK.COM*. The purchase itself is described as “Sold through Link”.
Stripe collects your payment details under its own privacy policy. We never see or store your card number.
After a purchase, we receive and keep:
- your email address, so we can deliver the file and reach you about it;
- what you bought, when, and the order reference;
- the country used for tax, and the discount code if you used one;
- the amount paid.
We use that to deliver your guide and to honour refunds. If you ask for it, we also use it to tell you when a dated fact in a guide you own has changed. We do not sell it, rent it, or share it for anyone else's marketing.
Our lawful basis, for readers the GDPR or UK GDPR covers, is performing the contract you entered into when you bought the guide. For optional update emails it is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time. For keeping the site up and secure it is our legitimate interest in running it.
04 Who else handles it
- Stripe, as merchant of record
- Checkout, payment, invoicing, tax, fraud checks, disputes and support for the transaction. Your payment is acquired by Stripe Payments Company or Stripe Technology Europe, Limited. The second of those is established in Ireland. Receipts and invoices reach you from Link, issued as Sold through Link, LLC. You can manage your orders at link.com.

- Serving and protecting the site, and the anonymous statistics. Global network.
- Hostinger International Limited
- The server this application runs on, located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
When we start sending transactional email — receipts and update notices — we will name that provider here before the first message goes out.
05 Where your data goes
We are a Hong Kong company and our server is in Malaysia. Stripe acquires your payment through either its United States or its Irish entity. So if you live in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, buying a guide sends your order details outside that area. That is true even where Stripe handled the payment inside it.
Neither Hong Kong nor Malaysia has an adequacy decision from the European Commission. Where a transfer needs a safeguard, we rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses with the providers above. Ask us and we will tell you which arrangement covers your data.
06 How long we keep it
Order records are kept while you hold a licence to an edition. After that we keep them as long as accounting and tax require, which we treat as seven years from the transaction. Anonymous statistics are totals and are never tied to you. Request logs are short-lived, measured in days at Cloudflare and on our own server.
07 Your rights
Everyone. The Hong Kong Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance gives you three things. You may ask whether we hold personal data about you. You may ask for a copy. You may ask us to correct it if it is wrong. We will answer within 40 days, as that Ordinance requires.
If you are in the EEA or the UK, you have more rights on top of those. You can ask us to erase your data. You can restrict or object to how we use it. You can ask for it in a portable form. You can withdraw a consent you gave. None of that costs you anything. Ask at [email protected] and say what you want. We do not require a particular form of words.
If you think we have got it wrong, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data in Hong Kong. If you are in the EEA, you may instead complain to your national supervisory authority. In France that is the Commission nationale de l'informatique et des libertés (CNIL). In the UK it is the Information Commissioner's Office.
08 Asking Stripe to delete your purchase data
Because Stripe is the seller, you can ask Stripe directly to delete the personal data held for your purchases. That removes it from Stripe's records and from the matching records in our own Stripe account. It also cancels any subscription sold that way. Stripe tells us when such a request arrives.
That is separate from asking us, under section 07, about the copy we hold. You can do either, or both.
09 Children
These guides are written for adults deciding where to live and work. The site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18.
10 Changes to this notice
If we change it, we will change the date at the top and say what changed. If a change matters to buyers, we will email the people it affects. We will not rely on you re-reading this page.
